The McLaren 650S first generation is a mid-engined supercar offered as a fixed-roof Coupe and a folding-hardtop Roadster, built around a carbon fibre tub and tuned for road and track use alike.
Every McLaren 650S engine here is the same twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre petrol V8 mounted behind the cabin. A seven-speed dual-clutch robotic transmission sends drive to the rear wheels only, shifting almost instantly under load while still creeping smoothly through traffic. Coupe and Roadster share this powertrain, so the drivetrain character barely differs between them.
